Biography

Yiannis Avramopoulos was born in 1974 in the Greek town of Pyrgos close to Ancient Olympia. He has been painting & writing poetry & music from an early age. For the past 20 years he has been living in Plaka and Ilia in Greece where he paints and is involved in the local music and cultural scene. The influence of the antique as well as a philosophical lifestyle are evident in his paintings. His iconography is often reminiscent of the Ancient Greek sculptures embraced by a contemporary oeuvre of abstract techniques for their background. Yiannis is an avid poet and loves to explore theatre and music apart from the art of painting. His inspiration derived from the antique and contemporary world and he is creating a thread between these two eras.​
